Gossip Girl – Episode 2-24 Review

This week’s Valley Girls “backdoor pilot” as they are calling it (even though the spin-off seems to be scrapped anyway) was semi-interesting and to be honest, I didn’t know what to make of it.

Brittany Snow plays a young Lily who just got expelled from school and can’t wait to get away from her stuck-up mother and too-busy father. She goes off to find her sister Carol who left a few years ago to live on her own and make it as an actress. Lily finds herself talking to this rocker boy Owen who happens to know Carol. They go on a mission to get back a music video they made from this rich guy Keith Van Der Woodsen (Serena’s father?!?). We didn’t get much too much story, but I am convinced Owen is really Rufus. Come on, it so is.

While I didn’t find it to be the best concept ever, I still find myself wondering how the spin-off would go. The 80’s clothes were pretty sweet and I think Brittany Snow rocked those outfits. Also, it was nice to see No Doubt play in those ridiculous clothes that they probably did wear when they first formed.

Back to the actual show. Prom day is  here and boy was it boring. The classy event looked more like an elegant reception than a high school prom. It was nice that Chuck tried to make things perfect for Blair by secretly making her prom queen and getting her a dream dress. Meanwhile, she is at the prom with Nate (boring!) and thankfully, these two break up. Dan gets Serena out of jail and they attend prom together. That’s all the prom we saw. They should have dedicated an entire episode to it if you ask me.

Anyway, not much happened. I’m waiting for next week to get some more Chuck and Blair action. To be honest, that’s the only reason I watch the show anymore.
