The eighth season of 24 is about to start filming, and it’s bringing two new actors along for the ride.

Jennifer Westfeldt (Kissing Jessica Stein) and John Boyd (“The Notorious Bettie Page”) will be part of the show’s cast for season eight. They join fellow 24 newcomers Anil Kapoor and Chris Diamontopoulos on the show.

Westfeldt, according to The Hollywood Reporter, will play a recurring role a reporter who has ties to a Middle Eastern leader (Slumdog Millionaire star Kapoor) who’s visiting the U.S. on a peace mission. Boyd will be a regular, playing an analyst at the newly reconstituted CTU.

Diamontopoulos (The Starter Wife), meanwhile, will play the new chief of staff for President Allison Taylor (Cherry Jones).

Westfeldt guest-starred on several episodes of Grey’s Anatomy this season as an expectant mother who has major complications with her pregnancy. She also starred in a Hallmark Channel movie Before You Say “I Do” earlier this year and the ABC comedy Notes from the Underbelly a couple of seasons back.

Boyd has guested on Law & Order and Fringe and had a role in M. Night Shyamalan’s Lady in the Water.

Season eight of 24, which will be set in New York, is starting production this week and will return to FOX in January 2010.
