The numbers keep going up for CBS shows like NCIS, How I Met Your Mother, and The Good Wife, but the opposite is true for the network’s Friday night staple Numb3rs.
According to Variety, CBS has reduced the season’s order from 22 to 16, making room at midseason for the return of familiar fare like Flashpoint and new shows Undercover Boss and The Bridge.
The series, which features FBI agent Don Eppes (Rob Morrow) solving crime with the aid of his younger brother, Charlie (David Krumholtz), a mathematical genius and college professor, is in its sixth season.

I think this is sad and quite surprising. Nubm3rs is a wonderful show. The emphasis on the family relationships different than the usual procedurals and the use of math makes it one of the smartest shows on TV. If it weren’t winning its time slot every week, this move might make more sense.
It seems like a proven winner that should have been given the chance to have a full season before making the decision to cut it out of the lineup.
I always thought the presence of Numb3rs was a sign that CBS cared about putting on high-quality drama. I will miss it. The replacement shows will have to be just as good to win me back.
No, I don’t believe this. Numb3rs is a great show, because it really teaches the public about what amazing things you can accomplish when you utilize math and computer science in real-world situations. It should continue to air. I have always been captivated by its uniqure storylines.
