When Firefly premiered on Fox on September 22, 2002, there was high expectations for this Joss Wheadon series. Flash forward to mid-December that same year and it became just another TV casualty, canceled after eleven of the fourteen produced episodes had aired. Luckily, thanks to a growing market of TV DVD titles, Firefly found new life on home video. Its popularity brought about two comic-book mini-series, a role-playing game and of course the feature film Serenity that Universal Studios released in September 2005.

Having had two DVD releases and an HD DVD release, the film finally came to Blu-ray at the end of 2008.

Even if you haven’t viewed an episode of the series, Serenity is a modest-sized space western with an eclectic ensemble. With stars that you can see on TV’s Chuck and Castle among other programs, you’d be fullish to pass up this deal.
