John Denver wasn’t from Denver. His real last name was Deutschendorf. He sang “Rocky Mountain High,” but he was born in Roswell, New Mexico. That’s where they swear aliens crashed their UFO. Perhaps John Denver was an alien who was called up to the mothership when his plane crashed back in 1997? It should be [...]

Should there be American Idol auditions in Texas since their governor seems bent on having his state secede from America. What happens if they split in the middle of the season? Will the Texas contestants be disqualified? Or will their President Chuck Norris make a deal to have the show renamed American & Texas Idol?
Ryan [...]

There’s something non-eventful when the American Idol auditions come to Los Angeles. Can a SoCal resident get excited after being told, “You’re going to Hollywood?” Cause it’s just a few blocks away. It’s like a person in Manhattan being told they’re going to see the Empire State Building. There’s no dreams of the glamorous life [...]

If you don’t know what ‘Pants On The Ground’ is or means, you clearly need to bone up on your pop culture trivia.
The song made famous on American Idol by General Larry Platt and covered by both Brett Favre and Jimmy Fallon is now under fire for possibly being ripped off from another recorded track.
The [...]

The American Idol versus X-Factor story is getting more and more interesting.
After LaToya Jackson expressed interest in joining Idol, and reports surfaced about Paula Abdul joining X-Factor, OK! Magazine is now reporting that Rosie O’Donnell might also join the new Simon Cowell project.
“…I would do The X Factor,” she said.

TMZ reports that LaToya Jackson has lobbied for the American Idol job vacancy left open by Simon Cowell.
“I would love to be a judge on American Idol. I would love to have a chance for the public get to know the real me. I would be thrilled,” Jacskon said.
She appeared briefly on last year’s [...]

After the fiasco of Chicago will Orlando really inspire us to think Season 9 will have real contenders. Over 10,000 hopefuls sit in the football stadium that once hosted the WLAF’s Orlando Thunder. Are they going to do better than 13 winners? Are there enough ex-Mickey Mouse Club and boy band castoffs in the crowd.
They [...]

It appears that the American Idol Top 24 has been leaked again. MJ’s Big Blog has uncovered the names of the Idol finalists as well as some of their bios.
I know that the contestants were also staying at the Renaissance on Hollywood and Highland in LA a few weeks ago when I was there [...]

Rumors abound as to who shall be sitting in Simon Cowell’s chair for season 10 of American Idol. The biggest name tossed around is Elton John. The superstar has turned down the gig. How could he turn down millions of dollars to sit around, act like a spoiled brat and remind kids that he’s the [...]

Is it just me or has American Idol lost its edge?
Clearly, the number do not indicate a fall from grace for reality television’s biggest program. To be honest, there is a parallel between Idol and Survivor (my personal favorite show). The fact of the matter is that Idol will never lose its base [...]

Don’t expect the big issues to be discussed tonight. The fall out of Simon Cowell announcing his split from the series probably won’t even be mentioned until Hollywood Week. There won’t be tearful audition episodes with Simon giving his final scathing snide remark to ton deaf delusional superstars. He won’t be given a rocking chair [...]

There have been many rumors about American Idol since Paul Abdul exited the show in 2009 that Simon Cowell would be the next to leave as well.
With only 1 day before the show’s 9th sesason premiere, Cowell announced onstage today at press tour that he is leaving American Idol.
Simon told the assembled press, “There’s been [...]

In this week’s update, I talk about the Dancing With The Stars controversy that saw Donnie Osmond beat out the heavily-favored Mya. I also discuss the American Idol premiere as well as the new Mark Burnett show that debuts right after it. Finally, I make my prediction for who is out next on [...]

The Fall TV Season officially kicks off tonight, Monday, September 21, and that means all your favorite shows should be returning. If not, they will in January, unless they were canceled of course. But the new Fall season also means plenty of new shows that probably won’t last a season. With that in mind, a [...]

Kristin Chenoweth is the latest guest judge on American Idol this season. She will join regular judges Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson and Kara DioGuardi for the Orlando auditions.
Chenoweth won a Tony for playing Sally in You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown and also originated the role of Glinda the Good Witch in Broadway’s Wicked. [...]

How I Met Your Mother’s Neil Patrick Harris sat in with the American Idol judges Tuesday during a round of auditions in Dallas. He’s the eighth person to fill the seat vacated by Paula Abdul during the auditions for next season. Harris has sung on stage before in plays such as Rent and Sweeney Todd. [...]

Peter Rice, Chairman of FOX Broadcasting, confirmed Thursday that Victoria “Posh” Beckham will be a guest judge on the next season of American Idol, along with singer Katy Perry.
Of course, Paula Abdul could always return at any time.

The good news is that tonight will be the crowning achievement in a young man’s career. The bad news is that either Kris Allen or Adam Lambert will be forced to sing that hideous “No Boundaries” song one more time if they win. No one will ever say they didn’t pay their dues and suffered [...]

In a truly shocking result, the darkhorse, Kris Allen managed to defeat the heavily favored Adam Lambert to become the latest American Idol on Tuesday night.
Glam rocker Adam Lambert clearly suffered from people assuming he would win and not voting in droves, while the underdog from Conway, Arkansas benefitted from being the perennial underdog on [...]
