A week after our appetite for more Coach/Tami scenes was satiated, we’re then treated to the finest Friday Night Lights episode since Matt Saracen skipped town for greener pastures.
This is especially ironic, considering this had all the makings of an unmitigated disaster. Shows can often stray into preachy and heavy-handed territory when the decision is [...]

2009 has come to a close, and by now you have probably read or heard a lot of “best of” lists. This happens at the end of every year, but 2009 was also the close of the “00″ decade. Not only do you have to deal with “Best of the Year” lists, you [...]

It would have been safe to assume that after last week’s bag-over-the-head emotional express elevator with no brakes, we may have been treated to an episode with a little bit of levity to assuage our despair.
What we got instead was a deep, occasionally tragic and ultimately liberating meditation on the strains that distance–both physical and emotional–can [...]

Whenever I get in people’s faces about how much I love this show (which is alarmingly often), they often recoil, saying that they “don’t really like football.”
First of all, that’s irrelevant. I know several people who couldn’t tell you the difference between a first down and a field goal who just live for this show.
Second, [...]

Well, well, well…
Traditionally, I like to tackle these recaps in somewhat chronological order. But for the fourth episode of Friday Night Lights‘  off-the-charts great fourth season, we will absolutely have to start at the end.
There we were, conveniently set up for a nice little reconciliation between Matt and Julie. Matt, having wised up on his [...]

Last week, I mentioned that one of the defining qualities that makes Friday Night Lights so solid on every level is its ability to make me feel a sudden rush of emotions all at once.
Well, that statement still stands. But there’s so much more that makes this show one of the best shows on television [...]

I think what I’ve always liked most about Friday Night Lights is that it makes me feel so many different things at once.
That ability was on display in spades in last night’s season four premiere, “East of Dillon”.
Note the wording there in the title. Make no mistake about it, Coach Taylor is a long way [...]

The Fall TV Season officially kicks off tonight, Monday, September 21, and that means all your favorite shows should be returning. If not, they will in January, unless they were canceled of course. But the new Fall season also means plenty of new shows that probably won’t last a season. With that in mind, a [...]

Former Prison Break inmate Amaury Nolasco will have a recurring role on Southland this season as Lydia’s (Regina King) new partner. This probably isn’t a good sign for Tom Everett Scott’s character this season since he was Lydia’s partner.
Jurnee Smollett will play a character named Jess on Friday Night Lights this season. She’s the daughter [...]

Here are the highlights from NBC’s presentation at TCA’s Summer Press Tour …
- Chuck will not return until March.
- Friday Night Lights probably won’t be back until next Summer.
- Southland will likely focus more on stars Regina King and Ben McKenzie this season.
- Executive producer of Community, Joe Russo, compared the quality of the [...]

NBC and DirecTV will keep Friday Night Lights burning for two more seasons.
The network and the satellite provider finished an agreement on Monday to bring back the show for two more seasons of 13 episodes each. As was the case this season, episodes will debut on DirecTV’s 101 Network in the fall, then run on [...]

NBC is ringing in the New Year with a lineup of returning favorites, new series and an original movie in January.
Friday Night Lights fans who didn’t catch the third season of their beloved show on DirectTV can finally see what happened to Landry, Lila, Saracen and the gang when it returns on Friday, Jan. 16.
But [...]

Now that the strike is over, you probably want to know when your favorite “scripted” television shows will be coming back to the air with new episodes. The networks have quietly begun outlining plans to salvage what’s left of the current TV season and here is what they have come up with…
***However, schedule is subject [...]

The theme for the past two weeks of Friday Night Lights was heartbreak. This week’s theme was consequences, as past actions came back to people on their a$$es.
We picked things up where we left off, with Smash and his jungle fever (I love that phrase) gone bad. Following last week’s altercation at the movies, Smash [...]

Here’s what happens when we rely too much on modern technology instead of old fashioned TV sets and VCR’s. When it fails, it fails. So I wasn’t able to watch last week’s episode of Friday Night Lights until late in the week. So this is a two-in-one deal, recapping the last two weeks in Dillon.
And [...]

Friday Night Lights returned this week after the required holiday break with the final seven episodes left in the can. Fortunately, the show followed the trend started before the break, showing that the slump is over.
If anyone ever had any doubts about it, Eric Taylor proved it once and for all this week. He is [...]

On this week’s Z103.5 Morning Show segment, I discussed the Heroes season finale and if Ali Larter, Adrian Pasdar and David Anders are really off the show.
I also talked about a new love interest for Tami Taylor on Friday Night Lights and what is going to happen on the season finale of The Hills on [...]

Oh Landry, Landry. We knew your conscious wouldn’t let you keep this secret for ever. You’re too nice a guy. But think about how your honesty affects other people. Think of Tyra, who will now be an immediate accomplice, even if you don’t mention her. Think of your dad, who destroyed evidence. What will happen [...]

Putting last week’s rant behind us, it seems like Friday Night Lights hasn’t forgotten its roots. “Pantherama” was by far the best episode of the season and if the show can keep it up, it will be back on the horse, until the WGA stops it.
Tami and Eric are back doing what they do best, [...]
